Subject: UNDP still behind SB

Greetings All and thank you for your thoughts and support over the last few
weeks. I did write a sane and strong letter to my contacts at UNDP asking
them not to be rash. I don't know if my letter did any good, but the UNDP
is getting the same message from many places. Almost all the Ministries in
the Mongolian government are requesting that UNDP continue the straw-bale
project and it appears that they will do so. I see this fire as a wake up
call to the real quality control issues in the project and I believe that
we can start to focus more on training quality folks this building season.
Mongolia has very little in the way of a "building" tradition - being
nomadic and all. And what they learned from the Soviets was all tilt-up
concrete and masonry. So the challenge is to teach overall good building
practices as well as SB. Thanks again for your support!!
