Pre-compression of bales laid on their edge can vary accoring to their
density, obvious, however we have found that good bales on edge or on
their flat compress about the same.

For a 2.4 metre high wall on edge or on the flat we compress between
75-100mm.  If they are not good bales we have got 150mm of
compression.  We are using a pair of all thread rods set every 1.8
meters apart and beside every door and window opening.
