Sustainable Sources is both affordable and locally owned and staffed. We never “offshore” our web development (well, except for that time one of our contractors took an 8-month sailing trip to Australia with his laptop in tow, checking in for new assignments at each port…)
How much does a website cost? Like most things you purchase, the range of prices will vary depending upon what exactly you want: whether its a pesticide laden hothouse tomato or a non-GMO organic tomato from your local farmstand makes a big difference. The typical range of the sites we work on is between $500-$2500, though we’ve been involved with everything from single-page sites to $10,000+ sites. It all depends upon what you need. Contact us and we’ll put together a proposal.
How we work
You are asked to give a general idea of what you would like your site to look like: business like/playful, color preferences, font choices, navigation style. You may want to surf some other sites to get ideas and examples. Based on your responses we come up with three initial design proposals. You choose one that you like best, then get two rounds of changes to zero in on the right design for you. Typical cost:$800-1000, additional rounds of design changes are by the hour, and if we nail it on the first design it costs you less. Typical time frame: 1-2 weeks per design round, depending upon our current workload and the speed of your feedback.
You supply the details of what you want on the site. Together we’ll generate an outline of what you’d like beyond the common home/about us/contact us pages. You’ll be responsible for supplying the content on those pages – text, images, and whatever else. Cost and time to completion will depend upon the number of pages we’re building, the state/condition of the materials you provide, and the number of times you change your mind.
Training and/or maintainence
If we’re building your site with a content management system (highly suggested), we’ll train you on how to use it at $50/hr. We can usually get you off and running with a one-hour session. Then you can update the content anywhere on your site without having to pay us any more.
Of course, we’re always available to do content updates for you or to further tweak your design on an hourly basis.
