WWAT: questions about cob/wood combinations in housebuilding

Hello,
My question has to do with combining cob with other materials in housebuilding. On the picture of Ianto's book it shows wood above the cob at the window site, and the upper floor being wood. What care must be used in combining the two?. Should the wood always be on top of cob or could one wall be part cob, part wood vertically? Any suggestions or directions would be appreciated. (and I know doing this would affect the thermal ability of the design). Thanks. Dottie Porter
